Call for papers Autumn Seminar 2023

15 February 2023 Filed Under: Research

In addition to sponsoring of academic research Inquire Europe organizes bi-annual seminars for its members. The Autumn Seminar 2023 will be organized in Cologne Germany from 24 – 26 September 2023. A major part of the seminar will be devoted to:

“Innovation in investing for the long term”

New data sets, new financial instruments and new ML and NLP techniques generate innovations in quant investing. At the same time climate concerns are prominent and many investors are concerned about the long-term outcome of their investments in retirement funds, sovereign wealth funds etc. We welcome quant papers that address how to structure long term portfolios, where relevant using the new data, instruments and techniques that are now available.

Papers should have a quantitative background, with empirical testing of models, or other practical relevance and applications. We also encourage submissions of papers also on subtopics in the broad area of Institutional Investing and Asset Management that do not fit the main topic for the seminar. The audience of the Inquire seminars consists of financial professionals, mostly asset managers, all with experience in quantitative analysis of financial markets. A typical presentation will last approx. 30 minutes, plus 30 minutes discussion with the audience. Papers for presentation will be selected by the Program Committee of Inquire Europe.

Inquire Europe Prize

There is a prize of € 4.000 available for the best paper presented at the seminar. The paper will be selected by the Prize Committee of INQUIRE Europe.

Application Process & Deadline

Completed papers should be sent on Tuesday 18 April 2023 at the latest, to Theo Nijman at Inquire-Europe@tilburguniversity.edu  Selection will be based on full papers. Please include a cover page with title, authors, e-mail addresses and phone numbers in the document. In case your paper is selected we will pay your travel (economy class) and lodging expenses at the seminar.

We are looking forward to receiving your papers.

Raul Leote de Carvalho, Chair of the Program Committee Inquire Europe
