Inquire Europe provides financial support for academic research projects in quantitative investing which have the potential to be applied in institutional investing and asset management.
Inquire Europe encourages early-stage research focusing on European issues and the use of European data by researchers affiliated with European universities. If you are a senior researcher or professor, we encourage you to apply but please also share this call for papers with junior researchers and PhD students as our aim is to also provide financial support to younger researchers.
If you are interested in applying for a research grant, submit an outline of the project and a proposed timeline. If a draft of the proposed paper exists, submit that version as well, indicate what further work is to be done, and provide a proposed time schedule. If you are applying as a junior researcher or PhD student, we would like you to document any past research projects with your application. Papers are eligible for Inquire Europe funding only if substantial work on the project remains. Papers already presented at major academic conferences such as the American Finance Association, the European Finance Association or the Western Finance Association are not eligible for funding by Inquire Europe.
Multiple € 10.000 grants are awarded on an annual basis.
Payments are made directly to the researcher, unless otherwise requested.
Support of a research project by Inquire Europe does not in any way preclude subsequent publication of the paper in a journal of the researcher’s choice. Completed papers may be invited to Inquire Europe’s Spring or Autumn seminar which provides the opportunity to present and discuss the research with Inquire Europe members, which include many decision makers from the financial industry. If a paper is selected for a seminar, the institute will reimburse the travel and accommodation expenses for one author.
Application Process
We kindly request you to submit your proposal online and upload the required documents. The paperwork is limited and there is hardly any restriction on how to spend the research grant. The research proposal should include the following documents:
- One document (.pdf) that contains the following information:
- a cover page with title, author names, email addresses
- a short abstract of no more than one page
- a statement of research objectives and a literature review placing the study in context
- a clear and detailed description of the research method and the expected form of the results, together with a discussion of the practical value of the project
- a proposed timeline
- One document (.pdf) with the CVs of all co-authors
- Related paper(s), if available
Application Deadline
The next deadline for submission of research proposals is: Friday, 31 January 2025 (this is the link for your submissions)
