Autumn seminar cancelled, new webinar series launches in September

It is with deep regret that we must announce the cancellation of the forthcoming 30th anniversary seminar in Valencia in October 2020.

Earlier this year when we cancelled our seminar in Riga, it marked the first time in our 30-year history that we had to cancel a seminar. This will now be our second in succession.

Several countries have recently lifted their travel advisory, making it feasible to mobilize within Europe. However, at this stage, most corporates enforce their own travel policies which restrict travel completely. Even if corporate policies become more lenient, we expect that there will be no sense of urgency to travel, and participants will opt to be cautious and not attend the seminar in October.

We had high expectations for this year’s seminar programs, and we aspire to ensure that the forthcoming seminars are equally attractive. Let’s hope COVID-19 doesn’t continue to hinder activities in 2021, and we will convene again in Riga for the Joint Spring Seminar with Inquire UK, 21-23 March.

Although the Covid19 pandemic has made it impossible for us to convene in person, we have no limitations to meeting online. We believe that it is important to stay in contact with our broader community, share our sponsored research and continue to provide speakers with a platform to speak on developments in quant investing via a digital interface.

Therefore, we are planning a webinar series which will kick off in September. We will inform members on all details (dates, speakers and topics) as soon as more information becomes available.
